FAQ
Q. So what is Balloon Manor?
A. Balloon Manor is a giant 10-room, 10,000 square foot haunted house made entirely out of balloons! Over 100,000 balloons are used to create this haunted castle, and all of the amazing creations inside including: marvelous monsters & giant ghosts, creaking castle walls & freaky furniture, gruesome greenery & much much more. You’ve really got to see it in person to appreciate the artistry & hard work that goes into this incredible, ephemeral project. View photos of some of the creepy creatures lurking in the halls of the manor in the Photo Gallery.
Q. How do you blow up all of those balloons?
A. We have lots and lots of volunteers…and air compressors! The artists themselves will often use hand pumps and some still inflate balloons by mouth, mostly when doing detail work.
Q. How long does it take to build the Manor?
A. The actual construction of Balloon Manor takes about six days. However, the planning, coordination, writing and other creative development required to produce this event takes more than a year of work.
Q. How long do the balloons/does Balloon Manor last?
A. The inflated latex balloons can last for several weeks with care and daily maintenance. It changes daily, due to the nature of balloons. If we do only minimal maintenance, we can expect it to look good for about 7 days.
Q. Is Balloon Manor appropriate for young children?
A. Balloon Manor is a family-friendly event. No actors will jump out to frighten you. There are portrayals of traditionally spooky creatures, but no matter how hard we try, balloons can only be so scary. However, sensitive children may be frightened, and adults may be taken aback by an abundance of puns. There are exits located throughout the manor, as well as tour guides, should your little one request an early exit.
Q. Is Balloon Manor handicap accessible?
A. Our entire crew is dedicated to making the manor accessible to everyone that wants to come. In fact, several of our crew members will be building and even leading tours from wheelchairs. If you have special accessibility needs, we will do our best to accommodate you. If you are able, please let us know ahead of time that you are coming so we can make any special plans that are needed.
Q. Why do you put so much effort into something that only lasts for a few days?!?!
A. Well, there’s a really good story behind the first Balloon Manor, after you read it you’ll see why it just had to be done.
Ever since it’s inception, the proceeds from Balloon Manor have supported cancer-related charities. This year we are honored to create this spectacular event to support the American Cancer Society. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit ACS.
